Trying to start a Medicaid Nurse Aide program in the secondary arena can be a complex process from conceptualization to realization to approval.
This site is designed to assist Secondary School Administrators to navigate this process.
The following documents should provide an overall picture of the regulatory and programmatic requirements that are applied to all nurse aide programs.
After review, please complete the contact form to start the process or to request changes/report changes to a current program.
New MOA's Required for 2020/2021 School Year
KCTCS has signed a new MOA with the Department of Education that covers all Area Technology Centers. All non-ATC programs will need to sign a new MOA with KCTCS for the 2020/2021 school year. Until the MOA is signed, hours may not count toward the 75 required hours for the course. This site will be updated with the new contract and submission directions shortly. In addition, KCTCS has implemented a set of training benchmarks. Failure to meet benchmarks may result in revocation of your school's approval to offer the program.
We invite our secondary partners to work directly with your local KNAT Coordinator.
Dual credit nurse aide students must be enrolled in NAA100 or HST104 in the KCTCS System. The Health Science Program of Studies lists this course as "Medicaid Nurse Aide", however this is not the same as MNA100 in the KCTCS system.
In addition, the Patient Care Technician pathway with KDE/OCTEST will not qualify students to take the Medicaid Nurse Aide Competency Exam to be a State Registered Nurse Aide.
The following is the current pricing structure:
Written Test Only: $40
Performance Test Only: $75
